You
can also put down a paragraph starting with the words, "I
am <name>, of <institution>, in <address>"
because those things will hardly ever change. And although the
reason for writing the letter will always change, the words "I
am writing to you because" will not, so you can put that
down as well. If you want, you can add your company name and address
inside the footer to give it a formal look.
If
you have the draft of a generic formal letter formatted and stored
away, you just have to take it out, fill out the blank spaces
and send it without too much ado. So instead of relying on your
computer to give you're a blank formal letter template, make one
and store it away. It could come in handy when you have to write
a formal letter quickly and you are too upset to think straight.
